Update: Progress, Challenges, and Finding My Footing

This week was my first full 40-hour week at my new desk job, and let me tell you, adjusting to the new work from home routine has been an adventure in itself. Between learning the ropes and figuring out how to make a desk job not feel like a sedentary spiral, I’ve already discovered a few areas that need some extra attention.

First, the win: I hit my daily water intake goal every single day this week! 🎉 Considering how easy it is to lose track of hydration when you're sitting at a desk all day, I’m calling that a victory. I may not have sprouted leaves yet, but I’m pretty sure I’m officially a well-hydrated houseplant now. 🌱💧

Another win? I met my reading goal! Sure, most of it was researching how to do my job more effectively, but hey, progress is progress. Learning new skills and strategies counts, even if it’s not a bestselling novel or a beach read. It felt great to dedicate time to growing professionally and building confidence in my new role.

But not everything was smooth sailing. My step count? Uh... let’s just say it left a lot to be desired. With only about 3,000 steps a day, I’ve realized that working from home in a neighborhood that isn’t exactly walker-friendly presents a real challenge. Not to mention, my bathroom is on the other side of the house, so those steps were hard-earned! I need to find a way to work more movement into my day—maybe some indoor workouts or a walking app to encourage me to sneak in extra steps during breaks. Any suggestions?

And then there’s life, because of course it had to throw a curveball this week. My daughter ended up in the ER (she’s okay now, thankfully), but it meant that my first day of my new challenge started with a resounding thud. Between the stress, hospital waiting, and general chaos, it wasn’t the strongest start to this new chapter. But life doesn’t always cooperate with our plans, right?

This week reminded me that flexibility is key. Progress isn’t about perfect execution; it’s about showing up, even when things don’t go as planned. I’m proud of the small wins—like meeting my water and reading goals—and I’m committed to figuring out the areas where I need improvement, like movement and finding balance.

So here’s to learning, adjusting, and keeping the momentum going. I’m ready to tackle next week—hopefully with fewer ER visits and more steps!

What’s one small win you’re celebrating this week? I’d love to hear it! 💪✨
